Walking, Daycare, and Timeouts

At 16 months, our little monkey has started to take some steps on his own!  He started loving his two walking toys the last couple weeks, and then amazingly one day he got brave and took 3 steps without them.  He is still very shaky and usually topples over to the side pretty quick after he starts, but at least he is trying.  Unfortunately he still prefers crawling or using his walkers to actually walking, but we are getting there.

Coop also started attending his first real daycare a few weeks ago. He is really doing quite well and seems to really enjoy it. After about two weeks of tears when I dropped him off, he usually now is already interested in what the kids are doing to notice that I am walking out the door.

And finally, Coop had his first real timeout tonight.  I had heard you can give timeouts to kids for one minute for how many years they are and it is effective.  So you do the math, Coop is one.......so he had a one minute timeout!  He had decided to scream at the top of his lungs repeatedly during dinner just to hear himself scream, and finally we had had enough.  So Andy pushed Coop and highchair around the corner and made him face the wall.  I was trying not to let either of them hear me laughing.  I also took a video of all this, but probably best not to make fun of discipline time.  This kid might need a lot of it.

I will leave you with these two adorable pictures though, since Coop really is pure joy to be with (screaming or not).  Puzzle time with Jayla and some quality Aunt Kay and Josie time.
